Drupal Pinterest Clone
We have completed the Stable 1.1.x release of our PinBoard Pinterest clone theme and are already working on PinBoard - version 2. You can visit the PinBoard description page for more information or to purchase this theme! Also keep up with the PinBoard Roadmap for updates and ongoing PinBoard improvements.
We have been discussing the creation of a Pinterest clone built in Drupal over the past week or so. For those who do not know what Pinterest.com is (you must be living under a rock!), perhaps a few articles on its growth and popularity might be a good place to start your reading:
- http://blog.shareaholic.com/2012/01/pinterest-referral-traffic/
- http://www.blueglass.com/blog/everything-you-need-to-know-about-pinterest/
You can also do a search in Google for "Pinterest" to see many new topics regarding this growing social sharing web phenomenon.
What's so Great about a Pinterest Clone?
Pinterest is a social sharing website, much like Facebook, Twitter, or StumbleUpon. But the main difference in Pinterest is that it provides a central location for people to organize and share their images, inspirations, likes, and dislikes -- pretty much anything that they find interesting or inspiring. The images -- what's ultimately called "Pins" -- can be placed on themed-type boards. These centrally-refined topics and subjects can range from software or gafgets to wedding ideas and travel. The topics and ideas are endless.
So, where is the money-making potential in such a clone like Pinterest? The model based behind this pin board concept is based on the mass sharing and growth from users to share and publish practically any area of interest. This, in turn, provides endless revenue possibilities, such as adding targeted advertisers to topics/products. But there are many potential opportunities, such as:
- Build better brand awareness
- Build links to product or brand websites
- Build massive amounts of targeted traffic
- Integrate with Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus
- Let users add Pinterest badges or buttons to their blog or other locations
- Increase your commerce channel(s)
- Target any niche and become a powerhouse in it
- and much more...
What we're Working On and How You can Help!
We have been discussing building a Pinterest clone in Drupal with many of the same features of the Pinterest website. Some of those include:
- FaceBook & Twitter Connect
- Repinning Capabilities
- Add to "Favorite" and "Like" Pins
- Filter and Sorting by Search
- Public & Private Pins
- "Pinners" or Users you Follow
- Video Capabilities
- Popular Pins by Category
- Inviting Friends
- Commenting on Pins
- Basic Blog Section
- Drupal's Admin Section for Easy Management
- Sort & Rearrange your own Board
- Mobile & Responsive Support
- Chrome (and perhaps other browsers) Bookmarklets
This is a hefty undertaking at the moment with other projects we have going on. But we are looking for customers who want to chip in and help us get it done. Would you be willing to chip in to help us build a Pinterest clone for Drupal? We'd like to get started immediately as we have the framework and Drupal model already complete for the project.
Drupal Pinterest Clone Snapshot
Here is a small preview of the initial design concept we've completed. We will be beginning the porting process to Drupal next week.

When we get this built, we'd likely be asking around $250+ for the solution. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to go towards the cost of development and give all who chip in at least $150 the script for free once it's complete. Any other contribution will receive a final discount off the Drupal Pinterest clone theme retail price for around 25%.
If we can get enough interest in building this, I'll add a Chip In widget to this page (removed as of now) and start taking contributions immediately. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

If you include multilingual
If you include multilingual possibilities (i18n etc) i can contribute. I don't mean to have it ready in 2 languages, but not giving errors for someone who'll try to convert it.
I understand that i speak for many of potential buyers.

Thanks!
Got your contribution. Many thanks! We'll note the multi-language ability and make sure we integrate this and test with i18n and a few other locale-related modules.
Just to note -- anyone who contributes can also list their "must-haves" in the comments here and we'll review the most popular ones to add to the final product if they are not too difficult to implement. Any and all feedback welcome!
Thanks again
Pinterest clone
Am really excited to see the traffic of the pinterest clone and its one of the useful social media product. Here we are also ready to use this pinterest clone.
Development Timeframe
Hi Jason,
What's the timeframe on delivery of this model? I have a great idea how this model could be used for sizable audience.
Is it when the money comes in you will build it...Or you're working on it and set to launch at X date?
Thanks!
lisa
Plans for development
Hi Lisa,
We plan on launching this in around 1 1/2 months -- by the end of March. Contributions coming in will definitely speed up the process. If not many contributions come in to cover development of it then we'll likely build a premium solution and sell it at a higher cost to cover the development of it.
Contributions will get a nice discount or any contribution of $150 will get it got free when it's completed. Anyone else will likely pay double that or more.
Thanks!
Jason

How would a "premium solution" differ from what you're planning now?

Re: Pinterest Clone
Hi,
We are nearly complete with the design mockups. We will start porting the design over to Drupal most likely next week once we've worked through all of the design details.
Working demo
It would be interesting if you can have a working demo shown to the public. So, we can buy themes/plugins/installation directly from your end.
Cheers,
yeeloon
Pinterest clone demo
Hi,
We plan on adding screenshots of the Pinterest clone design sometime next week. After that we'll be porting the design to Drupal and building out the functionality.
I've checked with another few companies building a Pinterest clone and they are asking from $500 to $1000 for some custom code. We feel that building this Pinterest clone in Drupal will be far superior based on the Drupal distribution -- more secure, more stable, etc.
Stay tuned and we'll get this up and running very soon!
any update? Looking forward
any update?
Looking forward to your script but other script based on joomla is already in development so the sooner you'll release the better will be for your work.
Hi Jason, Back on 2/23/2012
Hi Jason,
Back on 2/23/2012 you have mentioned that you will add screenshots of the Pinterest clone design after a week. Kindly, how can we see these screenshots if made available?
When do you plan to launch the Pinterest Clone Theme for Drupal 7 ?
Thanks,
Massoud.
Minimum requirements
I understand what i ask is a little difficult to answer because of many parameters involved, but can you estimate the hosting bandwidth/space requirements of your solution for let's say an example of 1000 pinners and 3-4 pins per pinner?
I also want to ask you to include the invitation functionality, so we can control the initial number of members (pinners).
Another idea is to explore CDN (Content Delivery Network) capability of your solution, if not for videos at least for photos. I'm not sure but may be some Drupal modules for this.
Nikos
Jason, In what way would a
Jason,
In what way would a "premium solution" differ from what you're planning now?
Premium Pinterest clone solution
Hi, thanks for the comment. We were thinking of a premium solution including free hosting setup and several additional features for the Pinterest clone versus a more standard version. However, discussing this internally, we may be opting for the same solution for everyone so that we can fully support only one version of our Drupal Pinterest clone.
Wishing you guys all the best
Wishing you guys all the best I do not have anything to contribute for now. however I encourage you guys 100%.
Financing Clone
I am interested. I will contribute $150 when I see more of the details developed.
Great, will add more to the post once we have it
We are wrapping up the HTML/CSS for the Pinterest clone design. We'll add more details to the main post above once we've gotten this step completed and also add any other feature details.
Look forward to it..
Look forward to it.. Hopefully it doesn't took long to complete the actual demo site/distribution.
Thanks Jason!
Pinterest Clone
Dear Sir,
When you will suppose to release ? and about how much ?
Hi, in about 2-3 weeks
Hello, we should have the Pinterest clone completed within 2 to 3 weeks. The price will likely be in the $249 range.
Pinterest Clone
This is exactly what I am looking for. I only recently found out about Pinterest [I recently came out from under my rock.]
Use WordPress, making my third attempt to understand Drupal, which is much better under Drupal 7, and was going to go back to WordPress because of the lack of themes available.
Great to see someone building quality themes for Drupal at realistic prices [I am a retired hobbyist]
Happy to buy the theme when finished.
Like you said the concept has endless possibilities and niche uses. I was going to build a directory, but this is so much more visually appealing for a directory concept in a niche.
I would use it for Home builders designs, and monetize with adsense and then sponsored ads. [Not a big niche but would be helpful for builders to become findable.
Pinterest pricing a little high?
No doubt the theme is worth more than $59, but $249 is a little steep.
I would suggest getting more people using your themes, and Drupal in particular would be a better strategy in the mid to long term.
Putting a high price on the theme would encourage other developers to jump on the bandwagon and undercut you.
Suggest a $99 price point would be much more palatable, and less attractive for other cloners to compete.
I was waiting for a Wordpress theme to hit, but I would switch to Drupal for this theme. Market share is important to grow your brand and Drupal imo.
Btw, your other themes are beautiful.
Thanks for the replies Rick
Hi Rick,
We appreciate the feedback. You'd be surprised at the prices from the few others selling now. It ranges from $250 to $1000 for other scripts.... and may of these are custom written which means more room for exploits and hackers to take down your site.
Ours is/will be built on Drupal, built using Skeleton framework (for responsive designs) and have the tried and true security that Drupal is known for.
We'll stick with the price range we originally listed and test from there the response rate we receive. We don't want to give the script away though and the coding and time spent has been quite extensive thus far -- way beyond a normal theme.
Thanks
You are right of course
Hi Jason.
You are right, and you would best know the value of this theme and the work that has gone into it.
I have seen a $600 pinterest clone [with no demo] and yes, there is a lot of value in having any theme built on Drupal. You other themes look very impressive, and yes a fully responsive theme is the way to go.
I am hoping that for the opening special you might include a discount and or other themes as well to launch the product.
Just a thought.
Copyright question
Hi Jason, given the nature of a pinterest-like site with photos pinned by users that may not be owned by them, can you tell (if you know) what is the copyright law status regarding the owner of such a site?
If myself for example, run such a site will i break any copyright law by allowing others to pin photos to my site?
I also want to know if a user actually will upload a full sized photo or just a scaled down version?
It may be useful to prepare for us an example of a license agreement in such a way that the user accepts and takes all the responsibility of his actions regarding copyright rights of other's work.
I understand that when a user uploads his own photos gives away his rights to site owner. Is that correct?
Another suggestion is to have a an option for the site administrator to put a hold on a user's pin (unpublish?) until a dispute is cleared.
A special form for someone to fill a dispute will also be useful. (Dispute administration ?)
I also want to know what the hosting requirements will be for a starter site of e.g. 200 users, with 4 boards each user and 10 pins per board.
What is the hard disk storage (and monthly bandwidth) needed for that?
I can't wait to start working!
Nikos
Some answers for you
Hi,
Let me see if I can answer all of these questions for you and others...
1) given the nature of a pinterest-like site with photos pinned by users that may not be owned by them, can you tell (if you know) what is the copyright law status regarding the owner of such a site?
ANSWER: I would opt to use a "flag post" option added. Users can simply flag for removal and select their reason. you can see this type of thing on our GoVideo website: http://govideo.themesnap.net/node/22 (the flag icon under the video). May be able to allow them to add text as well with their flagged post.
My honest opinion from reading the latest articles is that pinning images from many websites is OK if the credit is given back to the site being pinned. There's also the tag rule to allow any website to add it to their site to not allow pinning. We don't have this planned initially but may add it in a later version.
2) I also want to know if a user actually will upload a full sized photo or just a scaled down version?
ANSWER: You can set upload file sizes (max. size) just like any other Drupal website. you can also determine the height/width maximums just like any other Drupal website. But it will come with default settings that you can adjust if you have experience customizing Drupal or basic theming.
3) It may be useful to prepare for us an example of a license agreement in such a way that the user accepts and takes all the responsibility of his actions regarding copyright rights of other's work.
I understand that when a user uploads his own photos gives away his rights to site owner. Is that correct?
ANSWER: I would prepare your own TOS, privacy policies, and other user guides as it fits your business. I would expect there are enough Pinterest clones that you could see what and how things are written in their agreements. We may work on some example terms to use but we don't have it planned in v1.
4) Another suggestion is to have a an option for the site administrator to put a hold on a user's pin (unpublish?) until a dispute is cleared.
ANSWER: Yes, the default way may be best to use. It places the Pin (node) in unpublish mode. Then, when the dispute is cleared, it gets published it again by the admin/moderator. I'm sure you can add triggers, rules, and so on as well for how these are handled if you wanted to get more advanced.
5) I also want to know what the hosting requirements will be for a starter site of e.g. 200 users, with 4 boards each user and 10 pins per board.
ANSWER: Honestly, I would go for a VPS that allow easy scaling to higher plans. Cloud hosting would be good as well. However, I think you could get away with a reliable shared host as long as things are in your favor, i.e. the server isn't maxed out, has sufficient RAM, bandwidth numbers are high, and the host is Drupal friendly. I'd be a bit weary on a shared host though.
Perhaps we can check a few of our hosting partners to see about getting a specific hosting setup for this type of website. But there's nothing is out of the ordinary to host this website versus another Drupal website. It all comes down to how popular your website is and traffic consumption.
Thanks
Hi Jason, I'll buy this
Hi Jason,
I'll buy this script.
How will pinning work exactly? Will users be uploading files themselves, linking to files by URL, or will you actually have something akin to the Pinterest browser plug-in?
I'm also happy to be a beta tester so feel free to send me an email and I'll do an advance purchase in conjunction with a beta.
Looking forward to it.
A few answers on our Pinterest clone
Hi,
You can include the option to post a normal "node" for pinning things, just like you create any other Drupal node. But, honestly, we knew this would be too cumbersome and lengthy of a process. That's why we've included a browser plugin for easy pinning right from a person's browser.
It will be compatible with Opera, Safari, FireFox, Chrome, IE, and Android Internet Browsers.
Chip in ended?
I think this is a great undertaking. would like to chip in but can't seem to be able to. I would also add some support to use a per user s3 configuration, that could help CDN type of support for images and some videos. premium price is a little steep but would chip in to get the lowered price tag.

We are in
Please count us in. We cannot wait to give it a run. We can participate in beta testing if possible.
When is the demo site going to be available to try? Is there a release date for the theme ?
Thanks,

Update?
Has this project died or will it be released?
We are in the final stages of debugging
We are debugging the theme right now and cleaning up some CSS and other output. I would imagine we'll be done very soon -- within the next 2 to 4 business days.
Looking to buy it!
Will keep tracking the progress - can't wait to see it live!
comments moderation
Hi Jason,
What if we must moderate comments before they get published, will we be able to do so with the Pinterest clone ?
Thanks..
Yes
Hello,
Yes, comments moderation will be available as all default Drupal functionality will stay intact in this theme -- roles, comments moderation, permissions, etc.
Open Source?
Will it be sold with the source code so that we can maintain/update it in case your company stops improving upon it?
Hi, yes. It's all open source code
Hi,
Yes, this will all be open source so you can improve the code, add to it, etc. even if we don't support enhancements at a later date.
Notifie me
Please notified me when Pinterest clone is ready to buy also your real Estate Module with IDX
Release?
Are you releasing by tuesday as previously stated?
I will buy
Hi Jason,
I will buy this script if you can manage to get it working properly with Drupal.
How to get in touch with you?
Thanks!
what if no photo available?
If I understand correctly, Pinterest is a social bookmarking website for images and videos.
But what if I want to bookmark certain interesting URL's or files ?
How would that work if I do not want to provide a photo or video, but rather bookmark/share a URL ?
Thanks!
Doesn't really work this way...
Hi,
Pinterest doesn't really work this way as it's meant to be a visual (image or vid. thumbnail) service. But you are free to customize our Drupal version to your liking by adding the ability to "bookmark" URLs since we have built this using mostly all core Drupal modules and follow strict theming practices.

many thanks for your reply!

Possible Invite Option?
Is it possible that this theme has an Invite option?
Let's say you are in beta and want to test and at the beginning want to have your members to invite people. Is it possible to operate in Invite-only mode and let existing users to invite other friends?
thank you
We are working on it for a version release
Hi,
In an effort to get this up and going, we may not have this ability in the initial release. However, depending on the reception of this theme we plan to add many more features to it, including invites and more.
Invite is a good idea
I agree with the invitation system in order to have everything under control for a beta-limited period.
Thank you
Thank you, looking forward to it.
We will contribute
Will the boards have sorting options?
User score?
Can you explain or give an example?
I'm not sure I understand what sort of sorting options you mean. Can you please give an example? I don't think Pinterest has this, do they?
Thanks
Private Messaging + Affiliate Links
Will Private Messaging be available among users?
Also, how about allowing what Pinterest did -- make money off affiliate links by automatically inserting affiliate links to product sites via Skimlinks?
http://skimlinks.com/
THAT would make this AWESOME.
A few replies
Hi,
Is private messaging available in Pinterest among users? I don't see this ability when I go to my friends pages or viewing their profiles anywhere. Perhaps I'm missing it?
We aren't factoring in the affiliate links like skimlinks. We will certainly look into this for a future release but I'm assuming their technology can be added by any user to their theme. Looks like it just uses JavaScript code placed in the footer of someone's site to work.
We really try hard to not add third-party modules to our themes because we like to stick to Drupal core modules or a custom module we support. I'll take a closer look at affiliate linking possibilities though with our Pinterest clone though. Thanks for the info!
Private Messaging
Well, I'm fairly certain I read that it's on their roadmap to allow private messaging amongst their users, as they move to a closed garden social network.
Just wondering if this is something that could be easily accomplished based on the Drupal private messaging module. Could be quite cool if the clone is better than the original :-)
Private Messaging
No problem, you'll free to install Pivatemsg module http://drupal.org/project/privatemsg without any troubles to get functionality you mean.
Hi, I am using a pinterest
Hi,
I am using a pinterest clone from another company and I am very disappointed with it. It is unstable, to many bugs, and little support. I will certainly be interested in this one as a replacement.
John
Ugh....
That sucks! Yeah, I've test driven a few of these PInterest clones from other sites. The biggest issue I see is that they are built by "less than steller" programmers and the code is all custom written PHP or something, which allows for fairly easy hacking attempts, poor upgrade paths, and not built on a tried and true CMS like Drupal or another popular CMS.
At least with our version it's going to be scalable, secure, and with many options for admins to control access, roles, permissions, and layouts, among other things.
pinterest clone
hey just wondering, which clones have you tried out so far?
Rather not link to them but...
I'd rather not link to them from this page, but we've inspected/reviewed 4 so far. I broke two of the 4.
I feel confident that a Pinterest built on Drupal is a more solid solution for growth, security, and scalability.
D-Day?
Hi,
Is today the launch date?
D-DAY?
When?
Drupal + Vbulletin/Invision
Just curious -- do you think there may be a way to connect this Pinterest Clone's user registration/login with Vbulletin or Invision Forums?
In other words, is there a Drupal - Vbulletin/Invision integration that you may be aware of?
vBulletin connection
This is the only one I know of: http://drupal.org/project/drupalvb
It's for Drupal 6.x, not 7. There seems to be not enough interest to port to D7: http://groups.drupal.org/node/197973
ETA?
Hi,
Is there a new release date on this?
Working on clean up and testing

Interested in your code
Hi,
I am interested in your code. I would likely want to integrated it into an existing Drupal site. Please send me a message about costs and perhaps your help with some custom work.
Thanks, Jerry
When is the release date?
Hello Jason,
I am waiting and watching your progress with excite. You said you can build it in these days.
What is the date for release and sell?
Ready to pay now.
Greetings,
I'm ready to pre-pay for the final version ($250?) right now if you are willing to send me whatever latest functional beta version you have at the moment. I just want to get started on it sooner rather than later. I would have paid the $150 contribution fee, but it seems the contributions are closed. Please email me on how we can complete the transaction if you are willing to do so.
Thanks.
Rating and Points System
Hi, we are very interested in this product. Please keep us updated.

Hello Jason,
Where have you been for 7 days. I hope you work hard as always to complete the project and will surprise us before weekend :)
Do you know that Jason, you are the person who I most want to hear a noise from now :)
Take care,
Best Regards.
Sorry, getting things fixed.
We have been working on cleaning this up. I have a temporary demo URL I'm adding to the original post above. Please check it there and we'll start the BETA 1 addition tomorrow with roadmap specifications and hopefully selling this by Friday.
Awesome
Looking forward to it Jason.
Looking good. But major bug:
Looking good.
But major bug: once you open a pin board, you can't get back to the main board without submitting a comment or doing some kind of action.
Also, anyone is allowed to comment without registering.
And I also heard Pinterest allows pinning of Youtube and VImeo videos now.
This is not a bug
1. We are focused on mobile devices UI and we actively use standard browser navigation tools to adapt UI for mobile devices with small screens. You can use your browser navigation button to get back to main board without submitting a comment or doing some kind of action.
2. Don't forget that this is Drupal 7 CMS with core Comments module. You can configure user role permission to Comments the way you like.
3. The Pin Board theme pins Youtube and Vimeo clips without trouble.
Looks Promising
Just remember us who chiped in at the beginning in order that when you start selling we can have our copy too.

Navigation
But it doesn't make sense to force someone to use a browser back button to get back to the main board.
Just clicking on the main board should allow you do go back to it.
It's a user experience thing.
Now there's an "X" button to close a Pin page
Now there's an "X" button to close a Pin node page. In the demo you can open a Pin and close it by clicking the right top corner "X" to close it in addition to the other method(s) already mentioned.
Sorry, newer update.
You can now click on the board behind the pin, plus the "X" to close the Pin node page preview.

can I purchase it now.
Id like to play with the beta.

Very, very nice Job. can't wait for my stable copy. :)
The best of innovation. Hat's off
Please notifies me on release, thanks
Pinterest
It's a pretty fundamental navigational aspect of Pinterest that you click on a pin, have it zoom, then click away to zoom other pins.
I think this is a must-have to be honest.
As noted above, there is now an "X" to close the Pin page
As noted above, there is now an "X" to close the Pin page. It's kind of like this... we can hold of on releases this BETA release to try accommodating requests we may like to add if it adds value and makes the product better for all. However, if we do this, then there will never be a release, since every request would have to be looked at and evaluated.
That's why this is a "BETA" release. We are building the marketing/front end pages for this today. However, I don't think it makes sense to a) copy exact functionality from Pinterest (for legal reasons), and b) to hold off on a BETA release when there are now several ways to close a Pin to get back to the main page.
Just my 2 cents...
Product looks great. Very
Product looks great. Very SOLID. I think we're all just too excited to BUY IT!
But I do hope you can continue to improve on this for a while. It's an awesome project.
See my post above
"You can now click on the board behind the pin, plus the "X" to close the Pin node page preview."
Question/Bug?
When you click on one of the images labelled:
"Uploaded to Pinboard'
Uploaded Pins
I'm unclear what this means.
Also, it triggers a login page instead of taking me directly to the uploaded pin:
http://test3.themesnap.net/user
Embed & Report Pin
It may be important to have a "Report Pin" feature for Copyright DMCA take-down purposes.
Pin a forum post or thread?
Is there are way to pin a forum post or forum thread thread or blog post?
Now that would be truly cool.
My Registration pending approval
Hi Jason,
Thank for the nice work done in Pinboard, It surely worth the wait!
I have registered yesterday morning on the demo Pinboard site but still pending approval after over 36 hours passed now. I would like to start pinning in my boards. How long do you think we need to wait before our registration gets approved ?
All the best,
Massoud AlShareef
linking
it seems that "linking" (adding some URL) within the Comment-section at Pinterest is not allowed. Maybe that is the reason which is fueling the posting of images by users?
However, linking is allowed in the comments-sections of your theme here......

what is the final price? can we buy it yet?
Based on the comments
Based on the comments, we are going to fix a few immediate issues on Monday. The price will still be around the $229 initial price noted in the original blog post above.
first impressions
Hi Jason,
Thank you for such good job.
I will tell about my first impressions to help you as another eye.
1-) Web site looks like just a blog. Will it remain this way? (Recent users, Powered by Drupal etc. on the right)
2-) Adding a pin can not be harder. It is just writşng an article. You should covert it to just Browse -> Description->Choose Board(Create new or choose created before)->Upload
3-) I can pin again and again my own pins. This should be disabled.
4-) Will you add FB and TWT support?
5-) It should look like more pinterest-like (not pinterest copy - If we think; is gmail a copy of hotmail?NO) . Now BETA looks like as an ordinary blog theme (tumblr! wordpress Flipchart theme)
6-) I want to see my avatar, my name somewhere of the site. Only a log out Link makes me feel I am already logged in.
7-) Comment button should open a mini-textbox below the pinned image / Not a new page
8-) Like doesn't work on thumbnail pin, when I click and open an image and click Like finger below, it counts 1 likes, and where is the UNLIKE?
9-) How many comment do you plan to show under an image? Look at the Luxury Yacht Charter named pin and comments below it. If I add 10+ comments it would close all the page.
I hope I and others will help you to see this type of small/big issues.
Take care.

Thanks for the replies
Hi,
We appreciate the replies back. Let me see if I can answer a few of these questions/observations:
1) When you go to a Pinterest page, such as this: http://pinterest.com/pin/158259374375678414/ you see a left and right column. Ours is similar but we'll be refining blocks and block content. But you can easily remove whatever blocks you want in 1 to 2 clicks -- or add others. It's up to you.
2) These are just fields. We are going to likely show additional fields in the demo but any customer can remove any unnecessary field by just editing the Pin content type. So, you can have this down to the bare bones minimum for content entering if you want.
3) We are disabling this on Monday. It was enabled just by default.
4) Probably, but perhaps not in the first release. We have the ShareThis module, so we may add more social sharing on a second or third BETA release.
5) Sorry, I don't understand #5 comments.
6) Easy addition. We'll likely add this in the top header.
7) Comment button. We may work on adding this for an initial release but not sure we're going to make it happen that soon.
8) Easy fix.
9) Probably cut it off at 5, then the full Pin page will have all comments listed.
Thanks again for the comments. Our plans are, if people like this theme/solution, that we'll be adding much more to it in BETA releases. :)
Prepay?
Is there a way to pre pay? Also,as most of your setups are all drupal distributions (modules, + installed content and configuration of modules, views, etc), everything is installed during the install process. Will updates be able to be made as an update or will it require a complete re-install? I ask because while I would like to buy a copy now, I will not want to redo any custom configuration that I do. If prepay and access to beta is possible then wold probably like to test out other feature intergrations in preparation for the production release.
Thanks for "BUG REPORTS"
It's seems that you are a newbee in Drupal CMS and not sure you understand most of your own notices clearly. The matter is that we are not focused on exact copy of Pinterest.com portal. Drupal CMS has its own unique tools for web sites development. Our idea is to integrate a part of Pinterest.com functionality with Drupal CMS to get additional tool for web sites building. Drupal CMS provides flexible and enough easy tools for customization of web sites based on Drupal CMS for many people. We are not focused on delivering our Drupal theme profile installation as complete solution (all in one) because we have to provide our customers the ability to apply their custom solution on their web site projects. We provide basic functionality in Drupal theme profile installation which is a feature of this installation among others.
However thanks for your interest in our project and your posts on the forum.
"Pin it" button drag problem
"Pin it" button won't drag to the
bookmark tool bar of Chrome the 2nd time
after the button was dragged once then
deleted, and it gives a bad script
error msg after dragged onto Opera thumbnail
bar.
Vanilla + Drupal Pinterest Clone
Would http://drupal.org/project/orchid work with this project?
I would want to add a link to a Vanilla forum which appears next to the main nav like this:
CATEGORIES BLOG POPULAR FORUM
And then have the forum display with the Drupal Pinterest Clone heading and embedded within the body content area.
Pinboard problems with Chrome
While the zooming (CNTL + "+" and "-") feature and dragging the "Pin it" button to bookmarks bar work just fine with Pinboard on IE, Opera, and FF browsers, I seem to face problems with Google Chrome (my favorite). Number of pins displayed on a raw across the screen horizontally does not change with Zooming in/out and "Pin it" button won't response to the mouse movement while trying to drag it to the bookmarks bar on Chrome (I am using Chrome ver. 18.0.1025.152 m).
It works fine with latest Chrome version
Hi, It works fine with latest Chrome version 18.0.1025.162 . Try to test it with latest Chrome.

Hi,
Nice project. Ready to buy it when it is ready. You release the beta on Monday?
No Boards?
Hi.
1) I like the board system in Pinterest, so anyone can create a thematic board that makes things better.
Here i cannot see it implemented visually. Instead we must remember the name of our board and as we type we see board names that do not belong to us.
I think that a user when it pins something must choose only from his own boards.
So, i like to see for a user's account separate "boards" and "pins" menu items.
2) Below a pin i think we must have a description like this "[user name] onto [board name]", where [board name] must be clickable and lead to this board's pins. When this pin is a repin we must have a description like this "[user name1] via [user name2] onto [board name]"
3) I agree with a comment above that pining must be simpler. I prefer instead of going to create something like a content node as it is now, to have a pop up window in client's browser (javascript) where he enters basic information and just press "pin it". I know you can do it because you already developed a pinit bookmarklet (which by the way is working very good and fast in all the browser i tried: Opera, Firefox, Chrome).
4) I understand that many people that will buy this theme are going to make customizations. I propose you to encourage all these people to share their findings, and you must create a very special forum page only for pinboard users to exchange ideas and ask for help between them.
5) How can get i copy when it's ready? I was the first contributor!
Good job so far, but it needs more little things that will make it better
Closing comments
Hi all,
I am closing the comments section on this blog post since we do not need to post bug reports in this thread. If we are going to track this theme's progress more effectively, we must do so in the forums. Please use these URLs below for tracking PinBoard:
