Left Sidebar Featured

Has anyone had a problem with the Featured Left Sidebar block being too large? Larger than the column so that it overlaps the featured news item 1? My solution was changing the CSS to giving it a width of 200px and removing all the padding, but I am hesitant to do this as it might backfire in some other browser. Is this a bug or is there a better solution?
