Problem with advertisement module

Hello

I'm using the Ad module 6.1.1 ( http://www.drupal.org/project/ad ) and the Efficient theme 1.4 on Drupal 6.9.

The Ad module works along with the Uploader module to upload pics.

So, I noticed that when i try to upload a new picture to be the banner on a new advertisement, it always gives me this error:

" drupal ad module It is required that you upload an image for your image advertisement. "

But if i change the theme, it works ok. In my case I changed to one of the default ones and was able to upload a picture.

Having this exact same problem

Hi we're using this same theme, Drupal 6.12 and Ad Module 6.x-2.0. I get the "It is required that you upload an image for your image advertisement." error and it never creates the ad.

If I make it an HTML ad it works fine, I can upload images then and it works, but there's no way to switch an ad type once you've set it via drupal. I even tried to be sneaky and used phpmyadmin to change the ad type back to image and even though the image was already uploaded and associated with this ad, and soon as I clicked save it gave the same error.

I've tried turning off the image and other modules but that didn't seem to make a difference. I haven't tried it with a different theme yet.

My only guess is that for some reason, perhaps because of some conflict in our setup, it's doing the check for the image upload before it's actually uploading it.

If anyone has a solution for this I'd really appreciate it, I'm kinda stumped on what to try next.

Thanks
-Matt

Images and Ad Module

Hi,
I've seen a few threads on Drupal about this problem. Are you using the upload module for the ad images? I noticed in the same thread you posted in at Drupal.org another perons mentioning this:

"that ad_image module uses the upload module for managing images"

I also read another separate post saying that you may have to upload the image several times for it to work. Are you checking to see if the image gets uploaded to the server? If so, what are the permissions on the file or file folder?

Image Ad problems

Yes I'm using the upload module and the files upload fine when creating other content, or even when I do the HTML ad. It's just when I try to do the image ad that it gives the error I mentioned above and it never even creates the ad, let alone uploads the file, just balks with that error and keeps me on the 'create content/ad' window.

I'll try it with another theme to see if this is a conflict specific with the Efficient theme.

Thanks

Definitely a problem w/ ad module and efficient theme

I tried turning off just about every module and still this problem persisted. Then I tried switching the theme to 'Bluemarine' and tried again and it worked fine. Thus, while I can't explain it, something is definitely going on between the efficient theme (even with it's modules and other modules it required turned off) and the ad module when it comes to image ads.

Perhaps it's something we've done in customizing the theme to fit our needs. I guess I can try installing a fresh version of efficient to figure if that's the case or not.

I'm kinda stumped as to what to do next. Suggestions welcome

-Matt

Ad module issue

Hi Matt,
Sorry about all the trouble you're having. That doesn't make sense that there would be a conflict between the theme and that module. If you have customized the theme and have a number of other modules or changes done to the original Efficient theme, I definitely would suggest a clean install and setting the theme up without any additions or tweaks to it.

Then, add the ad module to see if things go wrong. If it does, you should see something within the log files to indicate the issue. There has to be an error thrown somewhere.

If there is an issue with the module and the theme, I will let my programmer work on updating it with the latest Drupal version and modules, then ad that module and go from there. He should be able to fix any potential problems if it's a theme issue.

Let me know once you have the fresh install set up and tested.

Thanks

Ad module and testing

Hi Matt,
We will be testing this out over the next day or two (business days) and, in the process, updating all modules, theme version for the Efficient theme, and the core Drupal install. If you'd like I can send you a copy once it's complete.

We will test the new updated theme with the Ad module and then see if there are any issues with the new Efficient version.

Hope this helps. In the meantime, I would just bypass using that module for the next few days.

Thanks

Thanks

Well we're still rolling out the site we need this for (the future site of weru.org) so a few days delay is no problem at all. I appreciate your efforts and attention in helping resolve this. If there's anything at all I can do to assist you in any way please let me know.

The Ad module didn’t work for

The Ad module didn’t work for me. I don’t know why. I had all the necessary arrangement, but still :(
Hope your suggestions work…I’ll try those out.

Possible Fix

I encountered a similar problem with the advertisement module as the one described here (image attach button submits the form instead of attaching the image in a custom theme). The problem seemed to come from the way that the upload module works in forms. It runs it's "Attach" button through some fancy JS that wasn't getting included in my custom template. I ended up creating a page-node-add.tpl.php file in that theme that was more or less a direct copy of the Garland page.tpl.php file with a hard-coded style/js portion of the header. I assume there is a better way to do this but I didn't have time to research. Nasty hack, but it works in a pinch.
