I would like Feature Block 4 (right menu bar) to display the most recent "story" posts for all categories, not just the ones in the category selected in the pull down menu in the theme administration page. Can this be done? Thanks.

Can be done with some specific customizations

Hi,
The Publisher module that comes shipped with this theme (and the Publisher settings page) gives you the ability to select the one category to display for the right column. But if you want to display any new story added within the right block with thumbnails, then you'd need to dive into some code changes. The Publisher module itself would need to be customized as the primary change to make this happen. But I'm sure another change or two may need to be made to the main theme template file.

Unfortunately, this is not something I can easily type in a comment since it's more involved and requires customizing.

re: can Featured Block 4 display all categories?

I found a way to do it without too much customization.

I created a new taxonomy vocabulary (called, for instance, 'issue'). As content types, I assigned to it Story.

I added a term to the vocabulary, called Recent Items.

I downloaded and installed the Drupal module Taxonomy Defaults: http://drupal.org/project/taxonomy_defaults

In content management/taxonomy/default terms, under story, I assigned to the 'issue' vocabulary default term of Recent Items. This means that all new stories will be assigned Recent Items by default (this adds an extra drop down menu when creating a story, but what to do).

Then in site configuration/publisher theme, under the Feature Block 4 menu, I selected Recent Items as category.

Since all new stories are assigned to Recent Items, they appear on that block.

That's a good way around it :)

I didn't think of adding the additional taxonomy defaults module to do this but it sounds like a good workaround to the issue you were having without having to get into altering code.

Thanks so much for posting how you did it!
