Hi,

I just put in the latest profile install that Jason sent me last night with the included imagefield/imagecache releases. I'm pretty experienced w/ drupal and have built 15+ sites so I know what I'm doing with imagecache/filefield/imagefield and the like. Essentially I load publisher theme on, set up modules, assign an imagefield and imagecache preset to the publisher module settings, and assign nodes to them, and nothing happens. One node did appear on the front page (doesen't anymore), the menu gets all screwy, and the nodes do not appear in the feature blocks.

You can see it here:

www.dev.ronin-creative.com

You'll notice nothing appears in the feature block, and the menu is a mess.

Is there going to be a new release out for the latest version of imagefield and such? Because as is this release is unusable.

Please get back to me.

Thanks

Install profile is solid on Publisher

Hi,
If you set this theme up using the profile installation and as a fresh install then everything should work OK. I just did two Publisher theme installations today using the profile installation and it worked perfectly -- so nothing is corrupt or not working right with the theme .zip from what I/we can tell since we're experiencing no problems with installing it.

I just set up another one just to be sure and it set up perfectly. See:

http://www.themesnap.com/theme-testing/publis...

There has only been one Imagefield update on the Publisher 2.1 version -- 6.x-3.2 (from our 6.x-3.1 in the theme). This release was just made by the module's maintainer yesterday. See the attached snapshot:

We upgrade the themes once per month, and since this module upgrade isn't a security release, we'll upgrade it to the latest version when we do the theme upgrade which is scheduled in about 7 business days.

Are you sure you got the 2.1 Publisher version and are you sure that no files got corrupt during uploading them to you server?

Hi. I did not do the profile

Hi.

I did not do the profile installation, (although when I do I did the feature block did appear). I didn't want to do the profile install so much as I just wanted to put it on, I don't want all the menu's and dummy text. Primarily, I am interested in the publisher module itself (feature block one) than I actually am with the theme. I'm just trying to get the block working on a standalone system so I can put it into another theme I'm working on.

The security update is for filefield, not imagefield. Filefield 6x-3.2 is a required update because of a security vulnerability, this publisher module is designed to work with 3.1.

As of now it's still not working. I'll try the profile installation but that really isn't providing me with what I require. I simply need the feature block 1 functionality and the module and theme JS files should work across the board as publisher itself is a contrib module.

Thanks

Also, using profile

Also, using profile installation I get no admin links in breadcrumb or when I go to sitename.com/admin, it simply says

"Welcome to the administration section. Here you may control how your site functions.
You do not have any administrative items."

Again, I don't need all the pomp of the publisher theme I just need the feature block scroller which is what I'm trying to get to work and is why I purchased the theme in the first place.

However, doing the profile install I am able to get feature block working, but these are under circumstances which I'm unable to do for my requirements.

I need to be able to use publisher module on a standalone install w/o profile install, and at the moment, I can not.

Please get back to me.

Thank you.

Reply for featured blocks

Hi,
I was just replying to what you originally posted -- "I just put in the latest profile install" -- which, to me, meant that you set up the theme with the latest profile installation. So, maybe there was some confusion there. For the filefield module, that one was also just updated on the 21st - not even two days ago! So, we do need at least a couple of days to put updates like this into our queue to update. We will likely update this one early next week though since we are within a week of updating it anyway.

Like I mentioned before, we update the themes once per month, but modules can also be updated by customers who by the theme(s). You just back backups and follow the necessary module update steps as you would with any Drupal module.

The admin menu not showing is likely due to the admin menu module being enabled in the theme upon installation and, after reading several posts on Drupal, may need to be disabled in order for the admin page to show:

http://drupal.org/node/324717
http://drupal.org/node/250728

Disabling the admin menu module and running update.php (after backing up the site of course) worked for me.

Regarding the Publisher theme, it sounds like you're trying to just extract the functionality of the Publisher module and Featured block 1. To be able to extract only this block's functionality, you'll need to inspect the page.tpl.php and template.php for the appropriate template variables along with the JS files that make the front page slider work. If you understand templating variables in Drupal, this shouldn't be too difficult. You'd also need to inspect the Publisher module and examine how it interacts with the front page featured 1 block.

I'm not sure how much more information I can give you... For customizations we don't really offer support because it's outside of the scope of how the theme functions upon purchase. As much as we'd like to help with every customization with our themes we would spend over half of our waking hours doing free dev. work for customers for themes that are under $100 to begin with :(

I can run this by my programmer to see if he has or can provide me with a short run-down on how to extract this Featured block 1 functionality form the theme. But I hope you can agree that us spending time to help a customer build an entirely new website using a part or parts of our theme(s) is on the out-of-scope side of things.

Thanks
