Hi all,

I'm just working on customizing the wonderful Publisher theme for my student union (http://www.svoltastudenti.it/index.php)

I'd like to know if it's possible to have an automatic slideshow on feature block1 instead of just clicking on the numbers. I think it just requires some javascript which I'm bad to....

any ideas?

thanks in advance!

Daniele

Slideshow using jQuery/Views

Hi,
This option below will likely be your best option:

http://drupal.org/project/views_slideshow

We may be adding a similar slideshow feature to the top block/region of the Efficient and Publisher themes but it will likely be in another 3 to 4 weeks since we are trying to complete 3 new themes this week and into next week.

I think the above Views Slideshow method would require you'd have to know your way around the .tpl files and template.php file because the theme has already been coded to show the top region in the way it displays now. But I'm not sure that this module will give you the slideshow effect you are looking for.

If we decided to add this option to the Efficient theme, we would need to allow for some explanation for users with older versions of the theme to update/upgrade their versions if they decided they wanted to use an automatic slideshow instead of the clickable, tabbed method.

I will pass this option along to my developer to see what the options are.

Views slideshow option

Hi,
I'm not sure I follow your last post above. Yes, we coded the front page jquery slider in the Publisher theme. If you wanted to customize something past that point, you'd have to locate and replace the corresponding code within the front page .tpl, the template.php, and remove the code related to the slider already included in the theme.

Not sure I follow the last pat about "what i really need is something like that one but in a single block." Can you expand on that comment a little?

Note: It sounds like you're wanting to customize something that is quite larger than just adding/removing a module or changing a few settings. Since we would not be able to help you customize this, you may want to spend a few bucks on a Drupal developer to do it right for you.

Thanks

Boy, it would be great to hear an update on this or at least tell us how we can go about making the slider work on this block.
