Can anyone help me with this issue?

I have an install of Efficient where everything went smoothly until I started testing my "Featured Images"

When I add an image to a "story" and select any of the "Featured" choices, the rendered "Front Page" returns a broken image where the "Featured" image should be.  After plenty of investigating I've realized that Imagecache is doing its job correctly and the resized/scaled/etc. images are being generated and saved in the correct location....its just that the HTML path to display these images isn't being generated correctly.

I'm digging into Drupal and learning a ton...but I'm stuck here and hoping someone can lend some advice.  Should I reinstall something?  I've gone through the Imagecache "troubleshooting" guide and passed with flying colors.

Very strange....any help would be appreciated.
