Instructions for Installing the Business Portfolio Drupal 6.x Theme with Installation Profile
Assumptions
- You have Drupal friendly hosting: www.drupal.org/requirements
- You know how to create a database and how to use FTP.
- You have purchased and downloaded the Business Portfolio Drupal theme package with installation profile.
Theme Setup Instructions
- Unzip the Business Portfolio Drupal theme package (either .tgz or .zip) and upload all of the extracted files to your server via FTP. The extracted package already comes with the latest Drupal core and all of the required modules that are used within this theme.
- Create a MySQL database while your files are uploading, if you haven't already. Make a note of the complete database name, database username, and database password as you will need it during the first few steps of your theme installation.
- Once alll of the files are finished uploading, browse to your website address,(the location where you uploaded your files such as yoursite.com/ or yoursite.com/mynewtheme/) and select the BusinessPortfolio Theme install profile option.
- Finally, follow the next few steps to complete the installation process. You'll be asked for the DB name, username, and password but you can also set your site's preferred name/title, and so on.
Extra Installation Notes:
Note #1: After your installation profile has successfully set up your website, please go to this administration URL to make sure that your website's contact email address is correct: yoursite.com/admin/settings/site-information. Occasionally, this may need to be changed from the default (from "me
localhost [dot] com" or similar) if your profile installation did not change this for you.
You can also double check your user/pass on the main admin user account for your Drupal website, which will be located here for example: sitename.com/user/1/edit
Note #2: Drupal modules update often so double check that you have the latest stable module versions or after your initial installation you can check the Drupal's status update module to tell you which modules may have stable version releases that may need to be updated.
Front Page Setup:
Modifying the Unite Business Theme for Drupal is easy. Follow these simple instructions below to find out how to do this for your installation.
- The 3 blocks of content directly under the slider are simply blocks because they are only shown on the homepage. They are located in the /admin/build/block section and named: Home Banner 1, Home Banner 2, Home Banner 3
- The Dynamic slider a the top of the front page can be changed or you can add content or images there by selecting or creating any portfolio node type, i.e: /node/add/portfolio. The ability to add a portfolio node to the slideshow on the homepage can be done with simply checking or unchecking the radio button on the /node/add/portfolio page (under the "Body" and "Input format" fields) called "Slide Shows."
- The "Featured Content" region (4 stories) on the front page are controlled by adding any "Portfolio" content. Currently, only 4 Portfolio items are set to display in this region.
- The bottom stories (below "Featured Content") on the front page are simply blog entries. Just creating a blog entry will place a story in that location on the front page. Tip: /admin/content/node shows from the profile installation the stories added as demos in the theme. That should assist when finding out what's associated with what position besides the #2 and #3 explanations listed above.
- The right column blocks and footer are all simply blocks in the /admin/build/block section. Each are labeled to correspond to their position in the footer, i.e: Footer 1, Footer 2, Footer 3
- The right column Twitter block can be modified using the Twitter module located here while logged in as the admin: /admin/settings/twitter
That's it! We hope you enjoy this theme as much as we enjoyed making it.
