Instructions for Installing the Publisher Drupal 6.x Theme with Install Profile
Assumptions
- You have Drupal friendly hosting: www.drupal.org/requirements
- You know how to create a MySQL database and how to use FTP.
- You have purchased copy and have downloaded this theme package with installation profile.
Theme Setup Instructions
- Unzip the Publisher Drupal theme package (.tgz format) and upload all of the extracted files to your server via FTP. The extracted package already comes with the latest Drupal core and all of the required modules that are used within this theme. If you want to install this theme in your root directory (often "/public_html" directory, simply place all of the extracted files and folders within this directory.
- Create a MySQL database while your files are uploading, if you haven't already done so. Make a note of the complete database name (don't forget the prefix if your hosting provider uses one, such as "prefix_databasename"), database username, and database password as you will need it during the first few steps of your theme installation.
- Once all of the files are finished uploading, browse to the website address where you've uploaded the theme files, (this location will look like:
sitename.com/ --or-- sitename.com/mynewtheme/ (if you've chosen to install this theme in a sub-directory). Next, select the Publisher 6.x Easy Installer option.
Finally, follow the next few steps to complete the installation process. You'll be asked for the DB name, username, and password but you'll also be able to set your site's preferred name/title, and so on, within the initial setup pages for this theme.
Post Installation Notes:
- Important!! After your installation profile has successfully set up your website, please go to this administration URL to make sure that your website's contact email address and the administrator email address and password are both correct: sitename.com/admin/settings/site-information and sitename.com/user/1/edit. Re-type your password on the user/1/edit page just to be sure it is saved. Occasionally, this may need to be added if the profile installation did not save this data (default may be "me
localhost [dot] com" or similar).
Adding content to the theme can be done through the standard Drupal "Create content" operations. While adding content, you'll have the choice to place content within the categories you've specified for the "Featured" positions on the front page. You can also control the left and right column blocks within the /admin/block menu.
